TAYLORSVILLE — Three St. Martin de Porres Parish students received outstanding honors in academics and citizenship, for which they earned achievement awards.

Allen J. "A.J." Mortensen overcame his shyness by developing his self confidence and self-esteem. As a sixth-grader, he received the Clove Award May 29, presented yearly at Viewmont Elementary School in Murray, through an endowment fund set up by former Murray School District Superintendent James Clove. Mortensen was recognized for his 4.0 grade point average, honors in citizenship, and personality development.

As a sixth-grader, Kayce Mortensen received the Principal’s Award May 29, at Viewmont Elementary for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average and receiving honors in citizenship.

Zachary Loulias, as a ninth-grader, was honored with the Freedom Leadership Award presented by the Sugarhouse Kiwanis Club. Loulias received this honor by showing exemplary citizenship, scholarly achievement, productive activity, self discipline, and leadership responsibilities. Loulias also performed a service project by teaching a police officer task force gaming techniques and tips to aid them in fighting crimes against children on the Internet.
