January 5, 1950  ~ October 31, 2020

Steve Chido passed away on Halloween, October 31, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19. A lifelong resident of Utah, he attended Bishop Glass Catholic School grades 2 through 8. He graduated from West High School, Class of ’69. A lifelong dedicated Catholic, he attended the parishes of St. Patrick and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

In his youth he played the accordion, taking lessons from Larry Pino. He played organ in the rock-n-roll band Alpha Omega at many dances around the Wasatch Front. A lot of smiles, laughs and fun took place in that group.

He married Debbie Nelson in May of 1971; they later divorced. He worked for the Salt Lake City Airport as a security guard and in their sign shop, and took an early disability retirement.

He is survived by his sons Brandon and Cory Chido, sisters Sandee Price (Doug) and Teri Baker, grandchildren Shyler and Alec, nieces Tricia and Lynzi, nephews Jeremy, Coby, Jasey. Preceded in death by his father Leon (Sonny) Chido and his grandparents John and Beatrice Chido, with whom he shared a special relationship. Steve preceded his mother in death by six days.

Steve was special to those close to him and had a heart of gold. He struggled with heart disease, strokes, Parkinson’s disease and depression. A heartfelt thanks for caregivers Copper Ridge Health Care and Beehive Homes of West Jordan. Our utmost appreciation for the love and attention given by Tricia Baker. A nod and a prayer of blessing to Jim Steffon, the Eucharistic minister who so religiously delivered communion to Steve. Also, thank you Father Javier Virgen for your visits at the care center.

Graveside services and entombment of Steve’s and his mother Carol’s ashes at the Salt Lake City Cemetery on April 23 at 11 a.m.
