November 19, 1933 ~ March 15, 2022
Thomas J. Wright was born in Kearny, New Jersey, the only child of Thomas E. and Margaret E. Menyko Wright, on November 19, 1933. He graduated from St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, New Jersey and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey before employment as an electronic design engineer at ITT Laboratories in New Jersey.
He married Clare Stauder on April 12, 1958. They were later divorced. Their four children were born in New Jersey, prior to the family moving to Utah in 1966, when Tom accepted a job offer he couldn’t refuse. He worked in several positions for E-Systems, including director of navigation aids engineering, before retiring in 1993. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Holladay.
Tom spent his retirement years in Florida, then St. George, before moving in 2014 to Olympus Ranch in Murray, where he resided until his death. Tom took great joy throughout his life in his family, and in listening to jazz music. His pleasures in his retirement years included living, hiking and taking photos in red rock country, especially Zion National Park.
Tom is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Rebecca Moray Wright of New Mexico, his daughters Karen Wright of Connecticut, Lin-Marie Wright of Utah and Diane Wright of Massachusetts; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
