Trappist Father Joseph Louis Schroer is buried

HUNTSVILLE - Trappist Father Joseph Louis Schroer, 91, died July 22, 2010, at CHRISTUS Saint Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City.

Fr. Joseph was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Nashville, Tenn., to George and Mary Schroer. He was one of the founders of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Huntsville. He came to Utah in July of 1947 from Gethesmani Abbey in Kentucky.

He was general manager of the various industries for a number of years, and was particularly well-known as manager of the monastery dairy.

Fr. Joseph's skills as an electrician proved invaluable for the decades that he was at the monastery.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 27, 2010, at Holy Trinity Abbey, 1250 South 9500 East, Huntsville, under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden.

Interment was in the Holy Trinity Abbey Cemetery.
