Vinson Kashiwaeda named student council award winner

OGDEN — A sophomore at Saint Joseph Catholic High School won a 2006-2007 school year national scholarship award from the United States Achievement Academy (USAA) recently. The academy grants more than $100,000 in scholarships to USAA nominated students.

Vinson Kashiwaeda was recognized as a National Student Council Award winner among students from 37,473 junior and senior high schools around the country. He was recognized for his activities and honors as Freshman Class President, Peer Leader, Honor Roll, Key Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution just to name a few.

"I’m very honored to receive this award and I’m thankful to my counselor, the teachers, and my family members who have helped me achieve such heights," Kashewaeda said. "I’ll continue to work and improve, and I look forward to continuing these kinds of accomplishments in the future."

Kashiwaeda was nominated by Nancy Favero, the school’s education guidance counselor. "Vinson is an example and inspiration to students and our community. I appreciate his hard work and I’m honored to recognize his accomplishments," she said.

Kashewaeda is the son of Kenneth and Paula Kashewaeda. His grandparents are Sumiko Kashiweada and Miriam Watanabe.
