Virginia George Silcox

1924 ~ 2023

Virginia George Silcox, age 99, died on June 17, 2023. She was the daughter of Nicholes and Julia George and the wife of Glen Silcox, who preceded her in death. Virginia graduated from the University of Utah with Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English literature. She also received a graduate certificate in Middle Eastern Studies. For thirty years, she taught English in the Jordan, Salt Lake and Granite school districts. Her years at Skyline High School were especially important to her.

She is survived by her son, Geoffrey (Diane); daughter, Teresa; grandchildren Michael Anderson, Benjamin and Sarah Silcox; and great-grandson, Elliot Waylon Anderson. The family appreciates the love and care of the staff at Spring Gardens in Holladay and Inspiration Hospice, with special thanks to Fernanda and Jaime.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. The rite committal will take place at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, T Street and Fourth Avenue.
