Wally Mross Szemerey

SALT LAKE CITY — Wally Mross Szemerey, 78, died Nov. 19, after a brief illness. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Salt Lake City.

Szemerey was born April 29, 1929, in Rienshadt, Germany, to Ottilie and Emanuel Mross. She immigrated to the United States in 1958, where she met and married Gabor Szemerey in Salt Lake City April 25, 1959. Her greatest joys were her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. She was so proud of each of them and loved each of them deeply and equally. She loved her parish, the Mass, praying the rosary, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

She is survived by her husband, Gabor; daughters, Ildiko (Sid) Haycock, Sylvia (Mark) Chidester, Malinda (Tony) Kassapakis, son Steven (Vickie) Szemerey, all of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Smith, Patrick Haycock, Mark (Jessica) Chidester, Christopher, and Alexander Chidester, Nick (Nicole) Kassapakis, Amber Kassapakis, Cameran Dansie, Carly, and Taylor Szemerey; sisters, Mica Korbel, Gerda Lemaire, and Gretal Stein, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
