February 9, 1950 ~ November 29, 2023

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Wayne Kirk, passed away peacefully in his home on November 29, 2023 after enduring the painful effects of cancer. Born in Salt Lake City on February 9, 1950, to Earl and Janet Kirk, Wayne was the oldest of four children. He graduated from South High School and worked for Albertsons grocery store, where he met the love of his life and best friend of 54 beautiful years, Bette Jo Kirk. Together they dedicated their lives to their children and grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Even during chemo, Wayne attended several soccer games, theater and dance recitals, supporting them all the best he could. They were his “pride and joy.”

Wayne was part of the Navy Reserve and was always a hard worker. He owned his own yard care business (Aspen Yard Care) and later retired from Wonder Bread. He was a great example for his kids and family. Wayne’s passion was for the outdoors. He spent his last days sitting on his deck in the backyard. He loved camping and every year he looked forward to the archery hunt with his son Christopher. He enjoyed golfing every week with his buddies, even though many times they “forgot” to keep score. He had an awesome iron shot.

Wayne’s heart continued to always turn to service. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was always looking for ways to volunteer his time and service to the community and to the Lord, our God.

We will miss you, Dad! As for now, we can only imagine what is waiting for us on the other side. Until we meet again ...

Survived by his wife Bette Jo Kirk; children Suzie Campana, Angela (Chris) Crossman, Christopher (Patti) Kirk; grandchildren Bradley, Clint, Leisha, Noah, Owen, Makayla, Madison and Malorie; four great-grandchildren; and siblings Daniel Kirk and LoraLee Kirk. Preceded in death by his parents Earl and Janet Kirk and sister Lorraine Kirk.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on December 8, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

We would like to give a special thank you to Utah Cancer Specialists, Lone Peak Hospital and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
