Diocesan Administrator Msgr. J. Terrence Fitzgerald offers a Memorial Day homily May 29 in Mount Calvary Cemetery in which he reminds those present the Catholic cemetery reflects the Church’s faith in a life beyond the one we are living here. Pointing to the surrounding graves Msgr. Fitzgerald spoke of the hope of life everlasting brought to Christians by Jesus Christ. The altar in the center of Mount Calvary Cemetery is surrounded by the graves of priests and sisters who have served long and faithfully in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. At right, a veteran of World War II and the Korean war’s grave is marked with a flag in honor of his sacrifice for the country. "In this time of war," Msgr. Fitzgerald said, "it is good to remember those who are in service to the country, those who have died, and those whose lives have been forever changed by the injuries the have suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan."
