by Debbie Warmus ST. GEORGE — I am writing this to share with you why I am so proud to be part of the Catholic Community here in St. George, Utah. This holiday season we participated in three events to help various areas in our community. We started in October with the Catholic Women’s Club banding together and sewing like little elves fabric stockings for our senior citizens. Each stocking was then filled with 7 items donated by our parishioners ranging from much needed gloves and socks to fun items like puzzles, stationery, and games. In the end 21 stockings were delivered to Zion’s Way Hospice and 199 stockings were delivered to 5 long term care centers in the Washington County Area. In addition to our "Senior Friends Project" the Youth Group of the parish collected donations from our parishioners and delivered 73 food baskets to needy families in our parish during the holidays. On Epiphany Sunday, 189 "Angel Tree" recipients (needy children ranging in age from 0 to 16) received gifts donated again by our parishioners. I am so proud of our big hearts that we have here in the St. George area, and of the joy that we were all able to provide to so may people during the Christmas Season, that I just had to share the news with everyone! Warmus is a president of the St. George Catholic Women’s Council
