WEST HAVEN — Nestled within the parish grounds of St. Mary Catholic Church in West Haven, 40 women representing the vast geographical dimensions of the Diocese of Salt Lake City will be participating in the fourth annual women’s retreat the weekend of June 8.
With registration beginning Friday at 3 p.m. and concluding Sunday at noon, the retreat is open to women 18 years of age and older of all faith denominations. Participants will deepen their relationships with God and one another through a book study on 33 Days to Morning Glory by Father Michael E. Gaitley, MIC.
The women will be divided into four groups, each of which will offer a presentation on the spirituality of Marian consecration through such saints as St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. John Paul II. Interspersed between these presentations, spiritual nourishment will be acquired through daily Mass, nocturnal Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a living Rosary for Life, and a Stations of the Cross procession.
Each day will begin and end with the Liturgy of the Hours, while fireside chats and s’mores will enhance its rustic camping milieu.
The retreat will be led by the parish pastor, Father Gustavo Vidal, assisted by the Militia of the Immaculata’s national coordinator and Father Kolbe Missionary of the Immaculata Antonella di Piazza, from the Arch-diocese of Chicago.
Upon the completion of the retreat, women are meant to continue to “Seek the Lord, where He may be found” (Isaiah 55:6), and through per-severance in prayer and loving associations with one another witness the realities that, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10).
