Edwina Gateley at 2016 Aquinas Lecture: 'God calls all of us to do something in our lives'

 According to her mother, Edwina Gateley was always a little odd – unlike the rest of her children, Edwina went to Africa in the 1960s to teach, then returned to England to form the Volunteer Missionary Movement, and despite the success of that effort and the public recognition that came with it, she abandoned it to seek a master’s degree from the Chicago Theological Union. >>>

Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco draws tens of thousands in pro-life demonstration

Tens of thousands of people rallied in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza Jan. 23 and then walked down Market Street for the 12th annual Walk for Life West Coast, undaunted by intermittent rain, abortion protesters who briefly disrupted one of the speakers, or by traffic congestion related to the upcoming Super Bowl. >>>

Lay ecclesial ministry programs are a significant development in the Catholic Church in the U.S. Candidates are proposed by the pastor, trained by the diocese, installed by the bishop, and officially designated as lay ecclesial ministers. Lay ecclesial ministry is still in the early stages of implementation and, understandably, exhibits some growing pains. Among these are a lack of clarity about this ministry and some exorbitant claims made for it. >>>
