Este año La Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones en la Iglesia Católica es el 11 de mayo, como muchos lo saben el Domingo del Buen Pastor, lo cual resulta apropiado ya que el propósito de este día es públicamente realizar las instrucciones del Señor en cuanto a Mateo 9:38 ; Lucas 10:2; “Por tanto, rogad al Señor de la miés que envíe obreros a su miés. SALT LAKE CITY — Creating an “intentional presbyterate” that shares the same goals, ministers the same way and supports each other was the topic of the Diocese of Salt Lake City’s spring priest convocation, held May 1 at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish in Salt Lake City.
As the morning began, Father Martin Diaz, chair of the Board of Ongoing Formation for Priests, conducted an exercise in which the priests were divided into various categories, such as by age and country of origin. The exercise revealed that most of the younger priests in the diocese were born outside the United States.

As a historian, I enjoy hanging out in cemeteries. Call it morbid if you will, but there is significant information on some of those headstones, information missing elsewhere. Even more importantly, a grave is a place where I can bond with the deceased. I once wrote a history of Sanpete County, Utah, and one of the great pleasures was visiting the Manti cemetery on weekends and finding the graves of people whose diaries I had been reading during the week.

SANDY — Blessed Sacrament School participated in Stop Hunger Now by raising $4,762.60, which almost doubled their goal of $2,500. On May 2 the middle school religion classes packaged 86 boxes containing 18,576 meals for the nonprofit to distribute.

SANDY — Blessed Sacrament Parish will celebrate its 27th Fall Festival with a new look. Michelle Tessier, a Blessed Sacrament parishioner who recently moved to Utah from California and is a freelance illustrator/animator, created the winning logo following a parish contest.
