Year of Faith donations will benefit dining hall

Each month during the Year of Faith, Catholic Community Services is seeking specific donations. For November, holiday food items such as stuffing, cranberries, yams or boxed potatoes are requested. These items will be given to CCS the food pantries and St. Vincent de Paul dining hall. Items may be taken to parishes on Sunday, Nov. 4, or any day to St. Vincent de Paul dining hall (437 West 200 South, Salt Lake City), CCS Salt Lake (745 East 300 South) or CCS Northern Utah (2504 F Ave., Ogden.)

More and more of the hungry are depending on 'St. Vinny's'

SALT LAKE CITY — The Catholic Community Services St. Vincent de Paul dining hall in Salt Lake City has been serving the hungry at its current location for 25 years. St. Vinny’s, as it is popularly called, now serves 1,500 to 2,000 meals every day of the week. In recent years the program has seen an increase of about 40 percent in the number of families served.

WASHINGTON (USCCB) — Para honrar el cincuenta aniversario del Concilio Vaticano II y en vigésimo aniversario del Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, el Papa Benedicto XVI ha anunciado que el Año de la Fe, que inició el 11 de Octubre y finalizará el 24 de Noviembre, 2013, tiene la intención de fortalecer la fe de los católicos y atraer al mundo a la fe con el ejemplo. El Papa Benedicto ha exhortado a los católicos a estudiar las vidas de los santos para seguir su ejemplo como parte del Año de la Fe.
