On Monday, May 21, 43 Catholic entities filed 12 separate lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, among other defendants, and the HHS rule requiring employers to provide prescription contraception coverage with an extremely narrow exemption for houses of worship. Over the next few weeks, more information will be provided about the suits, but Catholics should understand two important points from the beginning.
