It is good to be back to our Tuesday Tapestry series and I welcome you once again to this weekly blog that highlights the people and events of my ministry here in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. We took a break for the summer vacation and are now ready to begin a new year of Tuesday Tapestry postings.
>>>SALT LAKE CITY —The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, took advantage of the opportunity presented at the Sept. 7 Bishop’s Leadership Society dinner at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish to thank those who contributed at least $1,000 to this year’s Diocesan Development Drive.
>>>OREM — Rocío Rivera participates in Bible study and baptism classes at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She sings in the parish choir, serves as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and helps with the Marriage Encounter sessions.
>>>CEDAR CITY — On Jan. 7, 2008 the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City received Father José Fidel Barrera-Cruz, who had been serving in the Diocese of Puerto Rico for almost five years.
>>>SALT LAKE CITY — Arthur Valdez is well known and well liked at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish/Newman Center, where he sits in the front row during Mass so someone can interpret to him, with sign language, what is being said or sung. Using sign language, he sings along with the choir and enjoys the music through the lyrics.
>>>SALT LAKE CITY – A grant from the McCarthey family has allowed Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery to improve its appearance and also save costs.
>>>LAYTON — Deja Viau and her brother Canyon Viau wanted to make the view better for young patients to help them heal, so they created a way to decorate hospital rooms with happy images. Deja and Canyon, along with their father Mark Viau, are the cofounders of ImagineitSkins.com. They are members of Saint Rose of Lima Parish.
