CCS and Saint Andrew's Food Pantry receive a share of Walmart's $1 million grant to fight hunger

SALT LAKE CITY — Catholic Community Services (CCS) and Saint Andrew Parish Pantry in Riverton were among the eight Salt Lake City community organizations to receive a share of the $1 million in grants from Walmart’s "Help Fight Hunger" campaign. CCS’s Saint Vincent de Paul dining hall in Salt Lake City received $60,000 and the CCS Joyce Hansen Hall Northern Utah Food Bank in Ogden received $75,000. The St. Andrew Food Pantry received $25,000. The checks were presented at the State Capitol Feb. 24.

SALT LAKE CITY —Each year, the Knights of Columbus in Utah feted priests and deacons at a dinner to thank them for their dedication to the Church. This year there will be three such dinners throughout the state; the first was held Feb. 17, hosted by Council 602 at Saint Ambrose Parish in Salt Lake City.

La semana pasada, en este espacio, res-pondí a la aseveración de que los indocumentados pueden y deberían ‘ponerse en regla’ y convertirse en ciudadanos legales de los Estados Unidos. Otro mito muy común en relación con los indocumentados es que el índice de crímenes entre ellos es mayor que el de los ciudadanos Norteamericanos o mayor que el de aquellas personas que llegaron legalmente a los Estados Unidos.
