Although the Diocese of Salt Lake City still lacks a bishop, an episcopal presence in the form of retired Bishop Richard Hanifen of Colorado Springs was not to be missed.

SALT LAKE CITY — Una tormenta de pasiones pasó por Salt Lake City del 29 al 31 de agosto cuando el Presidente George W. Bush, la Secretaria de Estado Condoleezza Rice, y el Secretario de Defensa Donald Rumsfeld llegaron a Salt Lake City para dirigirse a los participantes de la Convención Anual de Legionarios en el centro de convenciones Salt Palace. Demostraciones a favor de la política exterior del Presidente Bush y de la guerra en Irak compitieron por llamar la atención con protestas en contra de la guerra y en contra de Bush y con demostraciones de inmigrantes. Una demostración de solo tres hombres llamada "Muerte a Israel" fue sobrepasada por una demostración de media docena de hombres pro Israel que se encontraban enfrente de la calle. Los manifestantes anti Israel pasaron la maņana del 30 de agosto tratando de pagar $10 por hora a los que pasaban por el lugar si aceptaban portar sus pancartas.
