SALT LAKE CITY — The Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Salt Lake City collectively raised $12,293.90 during Catholic Schools Week for the Diocesan Development Drive (DDD) while learning the valuable lesson of stewardship. The stewardship program was the Catholic schools’ way of helping the DDD celebrate 40 years of supporting more than 20 diocesan ministries.

GEORGE — Blue pencil at hand, Intermountain Catholic Editor Barbara Stinson Lee is comfortable offering help drawn from her years of experience at any stage of the preparation process for the paper she joined in 1986. Twenty years and almost a thousand issues later, Lee can recognize events of statewide importance before they are anything more than ideas kicked around a coffee table. However, through a major diocesan conspiracy, Lee was faced with something unforeseen: on March 24, Lee was honored with the Master Editor Publisher Award by the Utah Press Association, the highest individual recognition offered by the organization of professional Utah journalists.

ST. GEORGE — Paul J.G. "Jerry" O’Brien, the seventh publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune, was inducted into the Utah Press Association’s (UPA) Utah Newspaper Hall of Fame in a ceremony March 25 at their annual winter convention in St. George.

WEST VALLEY CITY — "Open your hearts and ask Jesus anything, He knows us by name," said Father Javier Virgen to the visitors in the standing-room only chapel of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Fr. Virgen is the pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish.
