Amelia (Muņoz) Bourne

SALT LAKE CITY — Amelia Muñoz Bourne, 60, passed away Dec. 15, 2011, of metastatic uterine carcinosarcoma after a two-year battle with cancer.

Bourne was born on Jan. 1, 1951 in Murray to Guadalupe Muñoz and Maria Concepcion Nogales Muñoz. She married John M. Bourne on Jan. 9, 1971.

Bourne worked for the U.S. Army as Civilian Family program director for the 96th Regional Support Command (Ft. Douglas) and later as family program director for U.S. Army Reserve Joint and Special Troops Support Command. She was awarded the Department of The Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award upon her retirement.

Bourne is survived by her husband; son William Ramon Bourne; daughter Elizabeth (Dean) Bourne White; her parents; two sisters: Maria (Jesse) Deollos and Irma (Jr.) Martinez; three brothers: Lupe (Shery) Muñoz, Jr., Manuel (Melody) Muñoz, and Martin (Barbara) Muñoz; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
