Archbishop Chaput at BYU - Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadelphia will speak at noon on Jan. 23 in Brigham Young University’s Varsity Theatre. His topic will be “Magna Carta at 800: Why It Still Matters, Here and Now.” As a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe, Archbishop Chaput was the first Native American to be ordained an archbishop and only the second to be a bishop in the United States. An author, his publications include an e-book, “A Heart on Fire, Render Unto Caesar: Serving the Nation by Living Our Catholic Beliefs in Political Life,” and “Living the Catholic Faith: Rediscovering the Basics.” The Jan. 23 presentation, part of BYU’s “Lectures on Faith, Family, and Society” series, is free and open to the public.

Rosary for the Unborn — Sunday, Jan. 25, 2 p.m. at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U St., SLC.

2015 Aquinas Lecture — Jesuit Fr. Thomas J. Reese, senior analyst for the National Catholic Reporter, will present this year’s Aquinas Lecture; his topic is “Pope Francis and Reform of the Church.” The lecture will be Sunday, Jan. 25, at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Catherine of Siena/Newman Center, 170 University St. in SLC. The event is free and open to the public.

Family Literacy Night — Thursday, Jan. 29,  5-6:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament School, 1745 East 9800 South, Sandy. Activities are geared for children 3-13 years of age (grade 8). There will be numerous activities and hands-on projects dealing with the theme of literacy. This is a free event and open to the public. 

Annual Spaghetti Dinner — Saturday, Jan. 31, happy hour 6-7 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville. Raffles, beverages and desserts. Chamber Night — Judge Memorial CHS Music Program presents its annual Chamber Night on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. in the music room, 650 South 1100 East. Chamber Night is a recital-style performance in an intimate setting. This event is free and open to the public.

Mardi Gras — fundraiser by Saint Ambrose Parish and J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School. Friday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown, 75 S. West Temple. For tickets or information, visit cosgriff.org.

Cirque du St. Vincent’s Auction — Saturday, Feb. 7, at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. Big Top theme for a night of dinner, drinks and auctions to raise funds for the school. Tickets are $80. RSVP by Feb. 2.

Year of Consecrated Life Mass — Sunday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Bishop John C. Wester will celebrate a Mass in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life. All are invited.

Healing Mass — for anyone facing surgery, living with the difficulties of illness or frailty of old age.  Wednesday, Feb. 11, 3 p.m., at Saint Thomas More Church, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy.
