HELPER — Bernadette Perrero Paluso, 69, died Feb. 9, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer. Bernadette was born on Oct. 22, 1946 in Ogden, the daughter of Tom and Rose Scavo Perrero. She grew up in Helper, graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School, and attended the College of Eastern Utah and Utah State University. She married Tom Paluso in 1967 and they had two daughters, who were her pride and joy.
Bernadette influenced many lives during her nearly 40 years as a teacher and instructional coach at Sally Mauro Elementary, a job which she truly loved. She was a member of a local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women’s organization since 1970. Bernadette was an extremely creative person who was talented at sewing, quilting and telling stories. She loved reading, road trips, shopping, playing games and anything plaid. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family, friends and much-loved pets. Wherever Bernadette went, laughter was sure to follow. Her infectious giggle and positive attitude will always be remembered by those close to her.
Bernadette is survived by her husband, Tom; daughters Kim (Frank) Compagni and Niki (Kyle) Keller; grandchildren Nicholas (Regina) Compagni and Katie Compagni; brother Tom (Mary) Perrero; sister-in-law Joann Maxton; and numerous beloved friends, whom she thought of as sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Joe and Margaret Paluso; and sister-in-law, Carole Perrero.
It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Bernadette’s name to Sally Mauro Elementary, 20 South 2nd Ave., Helper, UT 84526.
