SALT LAKE CITY – Six months ago, Radio Feca began broadcasting the Sunday Mass in Spanish from the Cathedral of the Madeleine. With the help of Gregory Glenn, director of liturgy and music at the cathedral, the station reaches many Latin America countries as it broadcasts not only the Mass but religious-themed music and messages of faith.

The broadcast Mass reaches people who may not have transportation to a church, or even a nearby church to attend, but they do have a computer.

"A lot of people that can’t go to Mass listen to us," said Omar Arano, the broadcaster. "For example, in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Paraguay. We are transmitting live here in Utah and they can listen to it directly."

"People listen to us daily in a lot of countries," Arano said. "The Mass we transmit live at 3 p.m. and then retransmit at 7 p.m. that same day."

The radio signal comes out from the Cathedral of the Madeleine and is transmitted through a web page on the Internet, www.radiofeca.com.

"Now we are starting to plan to do some shows, first for the youth because it’s very important that we educate them," said Arano.

Arano is enthusiastic about his plans for the station. Besides the youth programs, he is working with Clara Galvez for a show in which they will present themes for married couples.

"We do all with the support of the community," said Arano "I think we are very blessed because of all the support that we received."

Radio Feca is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to all the world through the Internet. Daily they transmit Catholic music and they post different messages and links to other Catholic Resources.

"We hope that the community keeps supporting us," said Arano.
