Of the 173 members who comprised the Judge Memorial Catholic High School Class of 2011, 96 percent will attend a four-year institute of higher learning; 3 percent will attend a two-year institute.

The class includes two National Merit finalists and one commended student, six students who were nominated for Academic All-State and more than 50 All-State athletes, with the spring teams yet to be announced. One senior earned a Top Award at the Utah Theatre Conference, another finished in the top six in Utah’s "Poetry Out Loud" competition. Three seniors were honored for service and volunteerism by the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City

At the academic awards ceremony on May 23 and the athletic awards ceremony on May 24 the following awards, among others, were given.

The Christ the King Award was presented to Emily Burchett and Jeffrey Scott. The Christ the King Awards are the highest awards that the school bestows; they are given "in recognition of outstanding dedication and zeal to the service of God and School," according to the inscription.

Burchett was the Student Body Vice President and also received the Roy & Teru Okamoto Award for Outstanding Dedication in Extra-Curricular Activities and Sonny Tangaro Awards for Most Inspirational Participant for Drama and Most Inspirational Participant for Student Council.

Scott was Student Body President and also received the Monsignor J. Terrence Fitzgerald Award for Most Valuable Participant in Student Council and a Presidential Service Award.

The $10,000 Bishop Oscar Romero Scholarships, which are given to students who may not otherwise have the option to attend college, were presented to Shelby Carpenter, Nyandeng Daw, Fatima Martinez and Giorgio Roosta.

National Merit Scholars were Matthew R. Pell and Brian Willhard; Matthew Kirkegaard was a National Merit Commended Student.

Students who earned First Honors for their achievement in A.P. and Honors courses were Christopher J. Bell, Benjamin C. Cook, Robert E. Garlinghouse, Cory E. Georgopoulos, Matthew C. Kirkegaard, Josephine A. Mascher, Matthew R. Pell, Chase M. Pribble, Dayna Ruiz, Jeffrey W, Scott, Brian W. Willhard, Alexandria T. Wright and Mary K. Zost.

Vincent Fuoco was named the 2010-2011 Bulldog of the Year.

The Jeanette Sawaya Award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts, Academics & Athletics was presented to Michael Junkins and Amy Ware.

The Michael A. Starks Memorial Scholarship Award, given to students who demonstrate honesty, courage and love, was awarded to Jackie Sliwinski and Orlando Avila.

The Richard Schubach Award Champion of Youth, given to a student who makes an outstanding contribution to the youth of Judge Memorial, went to by Jack Elizondo.

The Tony Sheeran Awards for Outstanding Scholar-Athlete went to Benjamin Cook and Chloe Ropner.

The Monsignor James T. Kenny Outstanding Scholar in Activities were Mary Catherine Neville and Daniel Goodman.

The Frank Klekas Award for Outstanding Male Athlete was presented to Daniel Shiramizu; the Marjorie Pierce Award for Outstanding Female Athlete was awarded to Damara Walker.

The Knights of Columbus Award – Yerkovich Award for Boys’ Basketball and the Knights of Columbus Award – Moran Award for Football both went to Benjamin Cook.

The Knights of Columbus Award – Marjorie Pierce Award for Outstanding Female Athlete was presented to Damara Walker.

The Frank Klekas Award for Outstanding Male Athlete was given to Daniel Shiramizu.

The 2010-2011 Demi Candelaria Shining Star Award was presented to Ellen Sliwinski, girls’ basketball and Josie Mascher, girls’ soccer.

The 2011-2012 Demi Candelaria Memorial Scholarship Award was given to Sarah Palmer, girls’ basketball; Sydney Richards, girls’ basketball; and Samantha Garcia, girls’ soccer.
