At the June 20 Catholic Press Association convention, the Intermountain Catholic won three awards: Honorable Mention in the “Best Regular Column – General Commentary” category to Diocese of Salt Lake City Government Liaison Jean Hill (back row, left), who writes the monthly “For the Least of my Brethren” column for the paper; Honorable Mention in the  “Best Coverage of a Routine Sacramental Event” category to the IC editorial staff of (from left) Christine Young, Jenn Sparks, Marie Mischel and Laura Vallejo, for the package on Eucharistic Adoration;  and Third Place in the “Best Scenic, Still-Life or Weather photo” category for Mischel, Intermountain Catholic editor. They are shown with Bishop John C. Wester, Intermountain Catholic publisher. All three of the awards were open categories – the entries competed against Catholic newspapers throughout the United States and Canada regardless of their size.
