This past week I had the opportunity to meet with several staff members as we discussed the beginning of a new diaconate formation program. This new program will emphasize the formation of deacons to serve the Spanish-speaking community, although they are ordained for service throughout the entire diocese. You may expect to hear more information about this program as it begins and I encourage all of us to pray that the Lord of the Harvest will touch many hearts to respond to his call to serve our local church as an ordained deacon. I would like to thank in a special way Deacon Forrest Gray, Coordinator for Continuing Deacon Formation, for all his work in getting this new program started. His humble and competent service is a great gift to our diocese.
