I am deeply grateful to Susan Northway, Shannon Lee and Maria de la Cruz Gray for their excellent work in organizing this year’s Diocese of Salt Lake Pastoral Congress. We had well over 600 people attend a vibrant and multifaceted Congress in which we focused on the theme of Stewardship. Bishop Robert Morneau of Green Bay, Wisc., was our keynote speaker, as was Dominican Sister Rosa Monique Peña, who was the director of the Archdiocese of Miami’s Department of Religious Education for almost 20 years. The breakout sessions gave the participants an opportunity to study different aspects of stewardship in preparation for this important way of life that will begin for us toward the end of October of this year. I invite you to take a look at a series of articles I am writing in the Intermountain Catholic, which will also reflect on various aspects of this important spirituality in our diocese. My thanks go to one and all for a job very well done at this year’s Congress.
