OREM — Gloria B. Phillips died peacefully surrounded by her family on Jan. 2, 2016 in Salt Lake City. 
She was born on Jan. 19, 1932 in Tooele, the youngest child of Carmine and Maria Busico.  She graduated valedictorian of Tooele High School in 1949, and attended Holy Cross Hospital Nursing School on a scholarship, and graduated in 1953. 
Later that year, Gloria married William (Bill) H. Phillips; they moved to Orem in 1959.  
Gloria was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Provo (the church later moved to Orem) until moving to Salt Lake City after Bill’s death in 2011. 
She served her community by giving her energy and professional talents to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the Girl Scouts of Utah, the American Red Cross, Highland Cove Retirement Community, and the Assistance League of Salt Lake City. She was the author of several cookbooks, sales of the latest of which funded a scholarship for employees of Highland Cove.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, six sisters and grandson, Nicholas Phillips.  
Gloria is survived by her five children Sue (Jerald) Woodbury of Portland, Ore.; Peggy (Alan) Foster of Shasta, Calif.; Mark (Deb) Phillips of Lehi; Kathleen (Ernie) Sandoval of Salt Lake City; and Matthew (Lisa) Phillips of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
