Give Me a Chance Learning Center in Ogden broke ground for its Guadalupe Garden on April 26. The center provides various services for low-income adults, including parenting classes and a day care. Daughter of Charity Sister Maria Nguyen (second from left) founded Give Me a Chance. Among the dignitaries who attended the event were several from the Daughters of Charity provincial house in California, including Daughter of Charity Sister Marjory Ann Baez, visitatrix; Sister Betty Marie Dunkel, counselor; Janet Miller Abbott, president of the Drum Foundation and a member of the Daughters of Charity Board of Directors; and Conway Collis, president/CEO of GRACE (Gather, Respect, Advocate, Change, Engage), a California-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people living in poverty. Father Richard Hunt, administrator of Saint Florence Mission in Huntsville (not shown), led the blessing. Donations for various items for the garden are still being accepted; for information, call 801-627-2235.
