July 25, 1974 – Oct. 5, 2016
On July 25, 1974 a son who would soon be known as Harry was born to Roy A. Durham and Shana Durham (Roylance) in Walnut Creek, Calif. His sisters Janetta M. Killough (Kevin Killough Sr.) and Michelle Ortega; brother Harold “Grant” Hart (Jeanne Hart); sister-in-law Olivia Kilfoyle; brother-in-law Allen Cox; cousin James A. Durham, who was more like a brother; and Harold’s sisters and brothers by choice, “Wookie” Matthew G. Marsh (Susan Marsh), Kryssi Heitman and Marykaye Mummert, all loved him dearly.
Harold lived in California for most of his younger years. He loved fixing things, boat racing and horses. He graduated from Yolo High School in 1992. In May of 1999, he welcomed a son, Andrew W. Durham.
In March of 2003, Harold met the love of his life, Brooke A. Slaton. They married Oct. 16, 2004. They began their journey in Ogden. Brooke brought her daughters, Kaylee S. Saunders and Mariah M. Saunders, into their new family.
Harold and Brooke went on to love their three children together and enjoyed many camping trips, fishing trips and parties together. Harold enjoyed coaching sports for his children alongside his wife. He also took great joy in his long poker nights, backyard barbecues, wildlife and rock concerts.
The couple welcomed three additional children: Shania R. Durham, Baylie B. Durham and Sylis M. Cox. Harold loved playing with his children and building things such as playhouses to create a happy life for them.
During his career at Marketstar, Fusion Imaging and Kimberly Clark, Harold gained new friends who became much like a second family. They mentored Harold, looked up to him and admired him. Harold’s wife was always grateful to know that he had so much support when he was away working for his family.
Harold was strong, he was a fighter, he fought for what was right and what was good. On Oct. 5, 2016, Harold may have lost his battle but he finally found the peace he was searching for.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shana Durham; grandparents Roy O. Durham, Janetta Roylance and Harold Roylance; mother- and father-in-law Michelle Kilfoyle and Vern Kilfoyle; nephew Damon Marsh; uncle Jeff Durham; and many others.
Graveside services were held Oct. 17 at the Evergreen Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.myers-mortuary.com.
