Helen Regina Wester passed away peacefully as Mass was being celebrated in her room on November 20, 2023, at the age of 96.

Beloved wife of the late Charles R. Wester, to whom she was married for 51 years; loving mother of the Most Reverend John C. Wester, Archbishop of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Barry F. Wester (Helen Cademartori), Nancy M. Barbi and Kathryn H. O’Sullivan; loving mother-in-law of the late Stephen R. Barbi and Terence G. O’Sullivan; cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Kathleen), Bryan and Andrew (Sarah) Wester; Robert Barbi (Ilaria), Jennifer Belanger (Trevor) and Stephen Barbi; Michael, John (Darline Carillo) and Sarah (Craig Morin) O’Sullivan; proud great-grandmother of Theo Wester, Charlotte Wester and Whitten Wester; devoted sister of M. Jean Lee and the late Emmett Egan and daughter of the late Emmett and Helen Egan; also survived by many loving relatives and friends as well as parishioners from Our Lady of Mercy, St. Stephen, St. Peter (Pacifica) and St. Gregory parishes.

Helen was devoted to her family and was a faithful friend to many. Her love of the rosary and the celebration of the Eucharist marked a life of deep faith. She enjoyed playing Bridge, vacationing in Pollock Pines and preparing delicious meals for the many who gathered around her table. Her warm smile, gracious personality, Irish sense of humor and selfless love for family and friends will live on forever in our hearts as we take comfort that Christ has called Mom to himself and that she has joined Dad, her parents and the Communion of Saints where every tear has been wiped away.

The Wester family is deeply grateful to the many who have expressed their love and condolences; and to the caregivers at Judy’s Homes whose care and concern for Mom will never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated November 27 at St. Gregory Church, San Mateo, California. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to one’s home parish, Catholic Charities or Catholic Relief Services.
