Holy Cross Ministries director stepping down

SALT LAKE CITY – Sister Suzanne Brennan, CSC, will step down as executive director of Holy Cross Ministries (HCM) in Salt Lake City, the Leadership Team of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, which sponsors Holy Cross Ministries, announced May 20.

“We recognize and are grateful for the compassionate care and services provided to the underserved communities in Salt Lake City and Park City by the Holy Cross Ministries team under Sr. Suzanne’s leadership,” Morris Jensby, chair of the HCM Board of Trustees, said in a press release. “Sr. Suzanne has helped to sustain the vision of Holy Cross Ministries through the collaboration and shared commitment of all those who serve in HCM and partner with us.”

The Sisters of the Holy Cross came to Utah in 1879 to open a hospital and school in Silver Reef. Holy Cross Ministries, created in 1994, continues the tradition of service by assisting individuals and families; its services include advocacy, counseling, education, immigration legal services and outreach programs.  

“I am thankful to have served with and among so many faithful, caring and generous people in these past 16 years,” Sr. Suzanne said in the press release, which also stated that she plans to take some time for renewal and will consider other ministry opportunities in the future. “I am awed by the spirit of collaboration that has graced this ministry for the past two decades. It is only through the vision of the sisters on whose shoulders we stand today, and the unwavering commitment of sisters, staff, board members, volunteers, clients and community partners, that we have sustained HCM.  Every child, woman and family whose critical needs are met by our dedicated staff becomes an active member of our shared community, and we are all strengthened by their success.”

According to the press release, Sr. Suzanne will stay on at the HCM until a new executive director is found.
