Honoring scouts

Girls recite the Girl Scout Promise during the annual Bishop’s Dinner for Scouting and Clergy, held April 6 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kearns. Among those attending the dinner were Monsignor Robert Servatius, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish; Father James Blaine, pastor of Saint Peter Parish and scout chaplain; Father Eugenio Yarce, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish; and Deacon Herschel Hester, with the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake, welcomed those attending the dinner. He thanked the parents and leaders for being an integral part of the scouts’ formation. He also complimented the scouts for being present to and serving others in the community. "When I think of scouts, I think of individuals who think of others first," Bishop Wester said, adding that God sees them, and their rewards will be great.
