Josie Madrill

SALT LAKE CITY — Josie Madrill passed away on Jan. 11, 2013. Madrill was born on Dec. 22, 1928 to Jake Onsore Lopez and Maria Cesaria Armenta in La Madera, N.M. She was married to Ernest Madrill in 1941. She went to work as a housekeeper at the Denman Motel and at the Little America Hotel. In 1975 she became employed at National Semi Conductor, while working there with her fourth-grade education she taught herself to read and write sufficiently to do her job, receiving awards and recognition for her accomplishments becoming supervisor of the gold dust division. She retired in 1994.

Madrill is survived by children Marge Jensen, Connie Valdez, Emma Bain, Rose Marie Sanchez (Daniel), Pearl Madrill Ririe (Bob), Jerry Madrill, Diana O’Cana Lopez (Tito), Lloyd O’Cana (Talena) Margaret Baker; daughter-in-law Wilma Davidson (Don); sister Alice Mathews; nieces and nephews; 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Madrill was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and eight children.

A celebration of life reception was celebrated at the Benvegnu Center, Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
