Katherine Teresa Gibson

SALT LAKE CITY — Katherine "Kay" Teresa Gibson, 89, died June 10, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Gibson was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Sam and Rose Lopez. The family moved to Livingston, Mont., where she attended school. In 1941, she came to Salt Lake City to become a beautician, which she continued to do the rest of her life. She married William Gibson Sept. 18, 1943. She was a devout Catholic her entire life. She loved to cook for her family on birthdays and holidays, go bowling with her husband and their friends, and take short trips to Wendover. She was active in the 10 East Senior Center in her later years. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill; two sons, William G. Gibson, and Gary (Jody) Gibson; four grandchildren, Marie Beamer, William Fitzgerald (Jill) Gibson, Danielle, and Alina Gibson; four sisters, Betty Ratliff, Jenny (Robert) Weber, both of Livingston, Mont.; Thelma Schramn, of Issaquah, Wash.; and Mary Larango, of Missoula, Mont.; and brother, John (Jackie) Lopez, of Livingston, Mont.

A memorial service was held at Neil O’Donnell and Sons Mortuary. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
