EAST CARBON — Kathleen Nelson Eaquinto, 84, passed away April 25, 2014.

Eaquinto was born Oct. 27, 1929 in Columbia, Utah to Leland A. and Melva Wareham Nelson. She married Jim Eaquinto on Sept. 5, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

She was baptized into the Catholic Church on Sept. 4, 1948. She served as Eucharistic minister and lector at Good Shepherd Parish. She was president of the Good Shepherd Women’s Society and Southeastern Deanery Council of Catholic Women simultaneously from 1973 to 1974. She was honored as Catholic Woman of the Year in 1982 and she attended seven National Council of Catholic Women’s Conventions. 

Eaquinto is survived by children Bill (Debbie), Roslyn (Randy) Gunderson, Jim (Suzi), Kathleen (Steve) Wright, and Carolyn Howell; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Clark (Toni) Nelson; sister-in-law Marilyn Nelson; many nieces and nephews, and special nephew Frankie (Toni) Sacco.

Eaquinto was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Kendall.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
