SALT LAKE CITY — Kelly C. Nesi, 80, died March 7, 2009, due to complications from diabetes.

Nesi was born Oct. 13, 1928, to Joseph Nesi and Carmela Comparato in Salt Lake City. He married Esther Pietramala Aug.7. When he was 6 years old, both his parents passed away, leaving him, a younger brother, and sister alone. Teresa and Dominic Colonno, Kelly’s older sister and brother-in-law, took them and raised them. He always considered himself a lucky man to have two sets of parents, brothers, and sisters. He worked for the Western Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific for 39 years. He started as a fireman and worked his way up to an engineer. He took an early retirement in 1988, due to his diabetic condition. He was a hard working man, who put his family first. He was a jack of all trades and could repair or build anything.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; son Joseph (Linda) Nesi; daughters, Cherylann (Mike) Miller, Judy (James) Cochran, Kelly Jean (Daniel) Eldridge; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Ann Church. Interment was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
