OGDEN — Fifty-one Saint Joseph Catholic Elementary School students, ranging in age from kindergarten to eighth grade, performed "King Arthur’s Quest" on Oct. 15.

Missoula Children’s Theatre came to Saint Joseph School for one week with a set, costumes and scripts looking for actors and actresses. Fifty-one students auditioned, with rehearsals starting for the leads that same night.

The students worked hard all week learning and mastering their lines and acting skills with rehearsals every day after school. Their hard work paid off as they finished the week with two sold-out Saturday performances.

Within the cast of Saint Joseph students there was no differentiation amongst those young budding actor and actresses. Girls and boys were equals; the disabled become able; the shy experimented with bravery; individuals slower to learn were rehearsed to perfection; and the gifted become part of the whole. The lesson they learned is that they all make valuable contributions and together they comprise the whole, which is necessary for the show to go on and be successful. Missoula Children’s Theatre provided a unique opportunity for our students to learn the lessons of group dynamics while still excelling as an individual.
