Leilani Karlean Moore Sadler

May 2, 1940 ~  May 14, 2018

Leilani Karlean Moore Sadler was born on May 2, 1940 to Leo Lyndon and Ruby Conrad Moore in Salt Lake City. She attended Salt Lake schools and graduated from South High. She also attended the University of Utah and was a die-hard, red-blooded Ute fan.

Lani met the love of her life, William Sadler, at Holy Cross Hospital and they married on April 4, 1959. They shared 54 years together before Bill passed away on October 5, 2013. They were blessed with 12 children and together mourned the death of three: John Thomas (infant); Mary Margaret and Paul Lyndon.

Lani is survived by her father-in-law, “Hod” Sadler (Shirley, deceased) and many of Bill’s brothers and sisters, whom she loved dearly. Her children are  Mark, Ruby (Paul), Pamela (David) Corisis, Janice, Patricia (Joseph) Olbrys, James (Janet), Camille (Greg) Hartley, Michael (Marie), Adam (Sandra), and Benedict. She loved her 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, especially at Christmas time. Lani is also survived by her brother, Robert Moore (Annette, deceased) and her sister, Sheri (Joseph) Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia (Rod Lister); and her brother, Sandy Moore.

Mom was blessed to have many dear friends over the years. Thank you, Nada and Carol, for always being there. A special thanks to Father Jan at Saint Martin de Porres Parish for his loving care and attention.

Lani loved to go camping and hunting with her family. She and Bill traveled the world in their later years and shared many stories of their adventures. She was artistic and enjoyed painting. Lani worked as a florist for many years and created the most beautiful Christmas trees. She was a gourmet cook. For over three decades she joyfully served Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, cooking for the priests of our diocese, as well as shepherding the annual spaghetti dinner, which always was a big event for our family. Lani held the secret to the special sauce and that secret was her love.

Mom loved her babies! And her babies’ babies! And her babies’ babies’ babies – she adored them all. When Mom cradled an infant, they molded to her, heart and soul. Thank you to the nurses and physicians at Intermountain Medical Center for their tender care and kindness. A very special thank you to her friend, Margaret Baldwin.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Catholic Foundation of Utah, Priest Retirement Endowment #394, 27 C St., SLC, UT 84103.
