Lucille Katherine Durando Brusatto (“Nana”) died on Feb. 16, 2016; she was called home by God and is now reunited with her mother and father, husband and eight siblings.
Nana is survived by her four children: Joe Brusatto, Margaret Uzelac, Charmaine (Mike) Retford and Jim (Angi) Brusatto. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joanne Toole and Julia (Raymond) Etcheverry and brother-in-law Joseph (Pamela) Brusatto.
Nana was born in Denver, Colo. to Italian immigrants Francesco and Josephine Durando. She lived through the Great Depression and met her husband, James “Jim” Brusatto, during WWII; they were married June 30, 1946 and settled in Magna. Nana’s greatest joy was spending time with nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and her grandchildren: Olivia Brusatto; Trisha Norcross; Soney Uzelac; Georgia Vallejos; Chris, Brian and Michael Retford; and Gabriella, Alyssa, Maria and Justice Brusatto.
Nana had three great loves: family, cooking, and faith. Nana was a devoted Catholic and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Magna. She was famous for her Sunday spaghetti dinners, which were inspired by the heavens. Her devotion to her family was as strong as her devotion to God. She made everyone around her feel immensely special and loved.
She will be forever missed, especially her immaculate Italian cuisine, her cheerful spirit, and most of all her unconditional love for each person in her family. We have been more than blessed to have her in our lives for nearly a century, providing us with the most joyful memories. Ti Amo Nana, until we meet again.
Our family would like to thank Horizon Hospice; especially her aide, Monica, who provided Nana with such loving care.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Magna. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes building fund.
