SALT LAKE CITY — Manda Marie Sorich Smith (Baba), 94, passed away on May 18, 2011. Smith was born in Highland Boy (Bingham Canyon), Utah to John and Louise Sorich. Manda married H. Clayton Smith (Smitty) in 1941. After Smitty died suddenly in 1961, Baba worked tirelessly to help her three children through college. Manda is survived and revered by her children and their spouses: son Clay (wife Suzy, deceased) and their daughter Sarah (Mike) Brandstetter and first child expected this fall; daughter BJ (Larry) Holmberg, daughter Beverly (Kirby) Caywood and their children Robyn (Jared) Copinga, Jason (Melissa) Caywood, and Steven Caywood and his finance, Angela Job; great-grand-children Aidan, Ella and Lily Copinga; Roman and Ava Caywood. She was "Baba" to her extended family of nieces and nephews and to the Holmberg family including Randy and Long, children and grandchildren; Steve and Diane (TJ) Josh and Nichole (Mason and Toby) Joie and Scott Norby (Khian, Maiya and Lilah). Baba’s brothers John and Mike and her sister Matilda Eltz, as well as her parents. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Church.
