Marie Louise Cances

PRICE — Marie Louise Cances, 92, died May 5, 2009.

Cances was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Sunnyside, Utah, to Emile B. and Louise Laurent Cances. She attended school in Price, and graduated from St. Mary of the Wasatch in Salt Lake City. She taught English and French at Roosevelt Junior High School in Salt Lake City, and English and Spanish at Price Junior High. At our onset of World War II, she became a Federal Service employee and retired after serving 33 years in various government agencies in Utah, California, and the Philippine Islands. Upon retirement, she did volunteer work at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Salt Lake City. Later she became a member of Saint Ann Parish, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed the Catholic women’s bowling league.

She is survived by her sister, Jeannette C. Welsh, Price; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Commital was in Price City Cemetery.
