SALT LAKE CITY — Mary Christine "Chris" Bero, 47, died Aug. 25, after succumbing to the evils of alcohol and drug abuse.

Bero was born April 17, 1960, to Robert L. and Martha Ann Bero. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes School, Judge Memorial Catholic High School, and graduated from East High School. She married Marshall Plotka, M.D. June 24, 1984. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained friends. She was a compassionate person, who often cared for others more than she cared for herself.

She is survived by her parents; siblings, Robbie (fiancé, Janeen Hardman), Helen (Rick Van Wagoner), all of Salt Lake City, Marcie (Ken Rivera), Clovis, Calif.; nephews, Jake and Wilder; niece, Jamie Ann; partner, Steve Hogle, Heber City; and her protector and companion, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marko and Mary Bero , and Tillie Yelenich; and her Godparents Joe and Bessie Bruno.

A funeral Mass was celebrated by Father John E. Norman at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
