Aug. 22, 1934 ~ Jul. 5, 2017

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend Nary L. Valdez passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Jul. 5, 2017.

She was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Chamisal, N.M. She grew up in Magna, attended the University of Utah and later transferred to Westminster College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education, all while raising her six children. She went on to become a preschool teacher, where she was able to touch the lives of many children and their families.

Nary was loved by many and will be missed dearly, especially by her family and her husband of 68 years, who lovingly referred to her as the “boss.”

Her family was her greatest blessing; she loved without limits, was witty, smart and funny. She adored her many animals, was passionate about education, was a VIP customer of the QVC network and could light up a room with her warm welcoming smile.

We’ll hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in heaven.

She is survived by her husband Abel E. Valdez; children Vickie (Jose) Martinez, Kenneth (Kelly) Valdez, Allan Valdez, Nary (Mario) Quintana, Lori (Jose) Contreras, Kevin (Sherri) Valdez; fur babies Tessa and Matteo; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and May Arguello, and fur baby, Romeo. A funeral Mass was celebrated Jul. 7 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
