SALT LAKE CITY — This year for the first time, some women from the Southwestern Deanery attended the annual Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention.
While Christ the King Parish in Cedar City has been active in the organization, Saint George Parish in St. George just renewed its affiliation and the Saint Paul Catholic Center in Hurricane and Saint Christopher Parish in Kanab "have been with us for about year or two," said Amy Kennedy, DCCW president.
After the DCCW’s Leadership Workshop in Hurricane in January, the women decided to elect officers and formalize the operations of their deanery; previously, the Southwest Deanery had a representative to the DCCW board, Kennedy said. Judy Greene will be the Southwest Deanery president and a board member; Holy Cross Sister Yvonne Hatt is the deanery spiritual advisor.
