On Oct. 15, 2017, Paul Anthony Ortega Jr. passed into the hands of the Lord surrounded by family, while hundreds of his friends were gathered in prayer.

Paul was born on March 1, 2003, in Phoenix, Ariz. He attended Juan Diego Catholic High School, where he was known and loved by many. From the time he could walk and talk on his own, he was getting to know people. He had a way with people; everyone loved him as soon as they met him. He was always open, friendly and cheerful, bringing many people an abundance of joy. Most of his time was spent doing something, whether it was on the football field, making music on the guitar, piano or cajon, singing or acting on a stage – he made sure that he stayed involved in the world around him. He was an avid Boy Scout and outdoorsman.

His mother, Virginia Ortega; father, Paul Ortega; sister, Rosalie; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his grandparents survive Paul. Everyone he met loved him and will miss him dearly.  

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Oct. 20 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and he was laid to rest at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
