Rev. W. David Schorr

Rev. W. David Schorr, 66, a priest for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, passed away Oct. 27, 2014. 
Fr. Schorr was born Nov. 10, 1947, in McKeesport, Penn., son of the late Walter C. and Florence (Galata) Schorr. He attended elementary school at St. Joseph’s in Duquesne and high school at Bishop’s Latin School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University in 1969 and a master’s degree from St. Francis Seminary in Loretto, Penn., in 1973. He was ordained on May 5, 1973, by Bishop Vincent M. Leonard at Saint Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh, Penn. 
Fr. Schorr was the parochial vicar at three Pittsburgh parishes: the Nativity of Our Lord Parish (1973-1978), St. Francis Xavier Parish, (1978-1980), and Holy Innocents Parish (1980-1984). From 1984-1989 he served as parish administrator at St. Helen Parish in Roosevelt, Utah. He was pastor at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Pittsburgh from 1989-2008, and at the time of his death was serving as pastor at St. Rita Parish in Whitaker and Resurrection Parish in West Mifflin. He also served as the youth affairs representative at the North Side Deanery from 1976-1980. He was a recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bishop’s Latin School and the Cardinal Wright Award. 
Fr. Schorr is survived by Patricia L. Schorr, Theodore (Donna) Schorr, Jeanne Estep, Martin G. (Terri Jo) Schorr, adopted son, Joseph Fox and his family of Idaho; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Resurrection Church.
