September 11, 2001 ~ December 20, 2023
It is with deep sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of our precious Samuel David Abbott (Bubba), 22. Sam was born September 11, 2001 to Olivia Salazar and Philip Abbott. Sam passed away December 20, 2023 peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
In January 2023 we found out he had an extremely rare form of cancer, FLC liver cancer, which was already at stage 4. Sam fought a courageous battle, never complaining of his pain or being too sick. He was such a positive inspiration to everyone who knew him.
Sam graduated from Weber High School in 2020. He played baseball from the young age of 5 years old until 10th grade, playing on North Ogden Jr. High and Weber High Schools baseball teams. He also had a love for golf, playing since he was able to walk; he also played for the Weber High golf team. Sam enjoyed playing golf until the end. He belonged to The Barn Golf Club Men’s Association.
Sam enjoyed snowboarding with his friends and siblings and gaming with his friends. He loved going on family vacations and outings, always spending time with his family. We will miss our Sammy, he who had the biggest heart, always caring and thinking of others before himself.
He is survived by his mother Olivia Salazar; father Phillip (Angela) Abbott; sister Rylee (Hunter) Campbell; stepsister Kaylee Helms; stepbrother Ryland Hoffman; nieces Nova and Astella Campbell (with whom he had a special bond); niece Journee Phillips; grandmother Kristine Scothern; grandfathers David Salazar and David Abbott; great-grandmas Dixie Abbott and Hope Salazar; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and special friend Navy Wood. He was preceded in death by Grandma Becky Abbott (Beck), Grandpa Ron Scothern, great-grandpas Tony Salazar and Keith Rassmussen, great-grandparents Ivy and Bert Woolsey and cousins Cayden and Jacob Crook.
A funeral Mass was celebrated January 12, 2024 at St. James the Catholic Church in Ogden.
