Sharon Kessel

SALT LAKE CITY — Sharon Kessel, 68, passed away Dec. 5, 2014.

Kessel was born Aug. 4, 1946, in Springfield, Ill. to Theodore and Bernice Kessel. She graduated from the Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She worked in Rochester, NY, and then for 31 years at the University of Utah Medical Center, where she was part of the artificial heart team, specialized in cardiac nursing, and became the nurse manager of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. 

Kessel is survived by two brothers, Robert Kessel and James Kessel; her sister, Naomi McKean; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
