NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Holy Cross Sister M. Peter Clare, 77, died Jan. 6, 2010.
Sr. Peter Clare was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Orem to Harvey and Pearl Mooren Berna. Before becoming a religious, she worked as a nurse's aide at the former Holy Cross Hospital. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1951 and made her first vows in 1954. She began her teaching career in elementary education at St. Cyril's School in Tucson, Ariz., and was assigned to Judge Memorial Catholic High School from 1959 to 1962. She taught at Bishop Glass School in Salt Lake City from 1962 to 1966.
She is survived by her sister, Eileen (Charles) Wilkinson, Orem; brother, Peter Berna, Sturgis, Mich.; niece, Bonnie Anderson, St. George; grand-nieces, Charleen Duffey, American Falls, Idaho; and nephews Jonnie Wilkinson, American Fork and Eddie Wilkinson, Payson.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Ind.
