Socorro Margate Bachiller

SALT LAKE CITY — Socorro Margate Bachiller, 90, passed away Nov. 14, 2014.  
Bachiller was born in Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines on May 24, 1924. She married Raynero Bachiller, a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy, on June 26, 1946 in the Philippines. She was a professional seamstress and created costumes for local dance studios and even had contracts from various theatrical groups in New York. She also worked for Woolworth’s department stores.  
Bachiller was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary 5471 to the VFW of Washington DC. She organized the Junior Girls Unit, visited the Fisher House at the VA hospital, and involved herself with the local Marine Corps League Auxiliary and became a Life Member.  
Bachiller is survived by son Ray (Lisa) Bachiller and Lt. Jon Eric Paris, Jr., USN; daughter Corinne Marie Bachiller, granddaughter Angelina Ray Bachiller and sister Ayeth Avelino.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.
